Editorial standards

Our standards

1. We don’t invent data. We do not publish fabricated statistics, testimonials, case studies, logos or partner names. If a figure would help but we don’t have a reliable source, we leave a clearly labelled placeholder rather than guess.

2. We label estimates. Calculator outputs are illustrative. Every tool explains its formula and assumptions in plain language. Where a model uses simplified coefficients, such as the SaaS valuation model, we say so.

3. We test our math. The formulas behind the Deal Toolkit are covered by an automated test suite. When we change a formula, the tests must pass before it is published.

4. We cite and date. When we reference external data, laws or programs, we will cite the source and the date we checked it. Rules for lending programs and taxes change; we tell readers to confirm current terms with qualified professionals.

5. Education, not advice. Our content is general information. It does not consider your circumstances and is not legal, tax, accounting, lending or investment advice.

6. Independence. We are not a lender, broker or marketplace. If we ever earn money from a partner, the relationship will be disclosed on the page where it appears and partners will not review or approve editorial content.

7. Corrections. If we get something wrong we correct it, update the page date and, for material errors, add a note explaining the change.

How guides are written and updated

Each guide is researched, written and edited by the Bootstrapper.com editorial team, then reviewed for accuracy, clarity and internal consistency. Guides show the date they were last updated. Priority guides are reviewed periodically, and whenever a relevant rule or program changes.
