Summary
Bootstrapper.com is designed to collect as little personal information as possible. The calculators and checklist run in your browser. Inputs you type into a calculator are stored in the page address (URL) so you can share a scenario; they are not sent to our servers by the calculators. The due diligence checklist saves your progress in your browser’s local storage on your device.
Information we collect
- Newsletter: if you subscribe, we collect your email address and the page you signed up from. We use it only to send the Bootstrapper Brief and related updates. Subscriber data is stored and emails are sent by our email service provider, Kit (kit.com). Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your data at any time.
- Lead forms: the financing and valuation request forms are not live. When they launch, we will describe here what we collect, why, who processes it and how long we keep it.
- Technical data: our hosting provider may process standard server logs such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, for security and reliability.
- Analytics: we use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and tools are used, so we can improve them. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as pages visited, approximate location, device and browser, and referring site. Calculator inputs are kept in the page address, so they can appear in the page URLs that analytics records; avoid entering confidential figures if that concerns you. We use Google Consent Mode v2. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland (or we cannot tell where you are), analytics cookies are off until you choose Accept in the cookie banner. Until then, and if you choose Reject, Google Analytics does not set or read analytics cookies; under Consent Mode it may still receive limited cookieless signals (such as that a page was viewed) that are not linked to a cookie identifier. Elsewhere, analytics cookies are on by default and you can turn them off at any time with Cookie settings in the site footer. Advertising storage and ad personalization are always off; we do not run ads. You can also opt out with Google’s browser add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout) or by blocking cookies.
